Join us in Big Bear this Sunday for our first Kodiak 2017 training run!

Meet at the junction of HWY 38 and Hatchery Rd where the Sugarloaf Aid Station is for the race. This run is going to be two out and backs. The first is up to the summit Sugarloaf Mountain and back down. The second is across the infamous Deadman’s Ridge and back. Total of just over 20 miles with 4,700’ of gain!

Details: This is by far the most technical section of the course, as well as the high point. Did somebody say rocks? Be prepared for a challenging ...ascent of Sugarloaf Mountain where you will top out just shy of 10k’. Bring plenty of water! The route is easy to follow up to the top and back down to the start where we will have our CarboPro Aid Station. From here you will cross HWY 38 and make a couple of turns through the neighborhood (R, R, L) and then continue into the forest past a locked gate. This is Deadman’s Ridge. Follow the old jeep trail across the ridge to another locked gate and then turn around and make the journey back to the start. This route can be slightly tricky to follow in places so we will have a bit of orange ribbon marking the way.

We will keep the aid station open until 11AM.

Post run lunch gathering will be directly after on the patio at Nottingham’s!
