2020 Elite Race
We will host an elite field for the 100M and Half Marathon races on September 11-12, 2020 in Big Bear Lake, CA. The 100M race will start at 5PM on Friday, September 11 and the Half Marathon will start on Saturday, September 12. The maximum capacity in each race will be up to 80 runners - 40 men and 40 women that meet qualifying standards. There is a prize purse of $22,800 in total, as part of the Spartan Trail World Championship.

2020 ELITE QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Registration for the 2020 Elite Race will be based on the following qualifying standards. Only those accepted into the Elite Race will be eligible to compete for prize money. All qualifying results should have been achieved within the previous 2 years. The Kodiak 100M race also requires an official 50M race finish (or equivalent) within the previous 2 years.
Application Period:

July 13: Applicants who meet the Standard A will be accepted into the race. Applicants applying using the Alternate Standard will also be considered.

July 17: If the field has not been filled, applicants who meet Standard A and Standard B will be accepted into the race. Applicants applying using the Alternate Standard will also be considered.

After July 17: Qualified applicants will be accepted on a first come-first served basis, until the Elite race reaches maximum capacity.

There will be a waitlist if you were not accepted initially due to capacity restrictions.

We reserve the right to increase the capacity of each race if local restrictions allow.

ALTERNATE QUALIFYING STANDARD
We will review applications that do not meet any of the Standard A or Standard B results and will accept those runners based on our sole discretion. If you believe your results match the general competitiveness of the standards above, such as a podium finish at a race with a higher average difficulty level or an FKT where your ITRA points or race time may not accurately match you to the published standard, you may submit an application. The race organization reserves the right to invite a limited number of athletes that do not meet the Standard A or Standard B.

Spartan Trail World Championship Points Ranking
Participants in both the Elite Races and Open Course races will earn points toward the Spartan Trail World Championship final ranking. At the conclusion of each race, we will create a unique ranking based on relative finish times. For the final ranking, where a prize purse of $30,000 will be distributed between the
Trail Ultra and the Trail Championship, participants’ top 2 results plus the Final Championship race result will be taken into consideration.
